During the last weeks I’ve been spending a lot of time listening to this double album by a band I accidentally discovered through the almighty 8tracks (I’ve also got some playlists uploaded there btw).
It’s just like I imagine my own music and it hits right my taste: lots of synths but also shoegazy guitars, varied lines of singing/speaking and wonderful live drums.
And I just discovered that they’re going to play in my town during my birthday! So I’ll probably be there …
You should listen to their album, too. And probably also to the other albums. All of them. By all bands.

If someone had asked me about my favorite burger before, I wouldn’t really have known what to answer. After eating the Whistlestopper, I can say - that’s the one! <3
Those fries are mighty impressive, too. But even they are overshadowed by bread-monsterpatty-cheese-egg-bacon-goodness 5000. No onions necessary.

What a finale! At first I was sceptic because they put two “villains” in one movie (Bane and Catwoman) but it all worked out very nicely. I love Bane as a character, Robin (!) also comes in very well and the overall style is amazing, thanks to Hans Zimmer’s soundtrack and the storytelling which starts completely without Bruce and Batman and evolves (and even the infamous flashbacks aren’t that cheesy!).
So yeah, where can I get the trilogy with special features and soundtracks?

Sounds fresh, has a melancholic atmosphere and very nice dynamics. And really makes me want to see them live soon! I actually thought they’re from Germany, so what a disappointment: they’re British!
My favorite songs: We Saw The Deep, These Feet Of Clay and A Divorce Before Marriage
Let’s see about that new album The Shallows from this year …

Well, the mix of historical drama (?) and vampire fantasy with an admittedly nice twist (vampires can’t kill each other) is entertaining, so kudos for that. But my disappointment is mostly based on the overall missing innovation in that movie. There’s nearly nothing that hasn’t been there, especially in the fantasy genre. By now I would even call it cliché: master and student, an evil antagonist family, black suits, unrealistic battle scenes a la matrix, a carriage, a train and … vampires of course. I like the hat and the beard though.

It actually took me some time to discover the latest (and unfortunately last) album by Cats and Cats and Cats although I’m a big fan of its few predecessors. Just like “If I’d had an Atlas”, their new piece is heavily constructed around Ben George’s voice, with lots of choir stuff and additional instruments like accordion and violin of course. After a while of listening I can conclude that this is my second most-loved record by those cat fans. Still very progressive and full of great teenager-in-love atmosphere but some elements begin to become a bit too repititive for my taste.

I was quite surprised about this one! I love Jackie Chan in his role since he’s not embodying an almighty master of kungfu but just a person with problems and issues himself. So in the end master and apprentice can help each other out very well. The only thing I dislike is the cheesy and confusing ending (why does Dre have to change his fighting stance so often?).
Tip: watch the alternate ending on Youtube with an additional fight between Mr. Han and the evil master Li which got cut out in the final version of the movie.
P.S.: No, I haven’t seen the original yet, shame on me!

I can basically recommend visiting “Manaish and more!” (Jupiter Street, Bel-Air, Makati) and picking a random dish from the menu. It’s unbelievable how great their meals taste like, even to a guy who is used to eating Döner in Berlin alot. Full of compressed flavor, with a great mix of crispy, juicy and liquid parts, you won’t forget what you get in this Lebanese restaurant! In the last (quite horrible) picture you can see the Dajaj Fatteh* I had yesterday, made with crispy fried pita bread, chicken strips and special rice. But basically after visiting this place 8 times now, I always left it with the feeling I ate something awesome in a nice atmosphere.
*more suggestions: shawarma plate, taggen/donner shawarma, biryani and their kebabs and manaishs

This one has been recommended to me a thousand times already and today I was lucky enough to watch it, even with a great company (you should really enjoy group activities like movies with the right fans :P). It’s hilarious and I could impossibly get all the nice details after the first run, the camera and cinematographic techniques are awesome and I’m so much into teenager-are-in-love movies (that aren’t cliché). I’m already considering it as one of my top 5 favorite movies!
P.S.: Artwork of course not from me.
